My Approach
In this counselling space, all of you is welcome. I take a pluralistic approach, which means our work is shaped by you—your needs, values, and the ways you make sense of the world. Together, we can explore your inner landscape from multiple perspectives, making space for growth, understanding, and change in a way that truly fits you.
As a pluralistic counsellor, my approach is grounded in the understanding that no single method works for everyone. We are all shaped by different experiences, identities, and ways of being in the world. That’s why I draw from a range of therapeutic models, always working collaboratively with you to find what feels most helpful, relevant, and respectful to your needs.
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to honesty, flexibility, and emotional safety. Whether you want to explore long-standing patterns, make sense of current difficulties, or simply feel more at home in yourself—I offer a non-judgmental space where all parts of you are welcome.
Core Values Behind My Work
Trauma-Informed
I understand how past experiences—especially those involving neglect, abuse, or chronic stress—can shape how we think, feel, and relate. I work at a pace that feels right for you, always prioritising emotional safety, choice, and control. You won't be pushed to talk about anything before you're ready.
Neurodiversity-Affirming
I specialise in working with neurodivergent clients, including those who are autistic, ADHD, or identify as "differently wired." You don’t need to mask, explain, or apologise for how your brain works. My sessions are flexible and adapt to your communication style, sensory needs, and processing preferences.
Addiction-Sensitive & Relapse-Aware
As an Advanced Addiction Practitioner, I bring deep understanding to the complex relationship between trauma, emotional regulation, and substance use. Whether you're in recovery, exploring your relationship with a behaviour, or feeling stuck in a cycle, we can explore it together—without shame or pressure.
Relational & Human-Centred
The therapeutic relationship is central to how I work. I show up as a real person—not a blank screen—offering warmth, empathy, and groundedness. I’ll walk alongside you, not ahead of you, as we explore whatever comes up.
Therapeutic Tools I May Draw From
Person-Centred Therapy – providing empathy, unconditional positive regard, and space to reflect.
CBT and DBT-informed techniques – to support emotional regulation, behaviour change, and thought awareness.
Motivational Interviewing – helping you move through ambivalence and strengthen your readiness for change.
Mindfulness-Based Practices – fostering awareness, self-compassion, and resilience.
Psychoeducation – offering insights into how your brain and body respond to stress, addiction, or trauma.
Creative and flexible approaches – especially helpful for neurodivergent clients who benefit from visual, sensory, or movement-based strategies.
A Space That Works For You
Our sessions might include talking, silence, reflection, or skills-building—whatever feels supportive for your process. Whether we meet online or in person at The Rutland Therapy Centre, I aim to create a space where you can explore freely, feel heard, and reconnect with your sense of self.
If you're curious about working together or want to ask any questions about how I work, feel free to get in touch. You're under no pressure to commit, and you're always welcome as you are.
