About Me
I'm Ivaneta Vasileva, a registered Pluralistic Counsellor and proud member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), offering both online therapy across the UK and internationally and in-person sessions at The Rutland Therapy Centre in Oakham.
With over eight years of hands-on experience, I’ve supported adolescents, young adults, and adults through complex challenges including mental health, trauma, addiction, and neurodiversity
Understanding Through Experience
My path into counselling has been shaped by a life of transitions and a deep curiosity about human experience. At 14, I left home to study in another town, and later lived through the shift from communism to democracy—growing up in one system and learning to navigate adulthood in another. Later on , I moved to the United Arab Emirates, where I spent nearly 14 years working alongside people from around the world. This time opened my mind to the beauty of cultural difference—and also to the shared human worries we all carry.
Twelve years ago, I relocated to the UK and began working with adults living with dementia. Supporting individuals through memory loss and identity changes stirred important questions in me about consciousness and personhood, eventually leading me to study psychology.
Over the years, I’ve also worked closely with neurodivergent clients—and through self-reflection and informal self-screening, I've come to recognise similar patterns in myself. While I haven't pursued a formal diagnosis, this awareness deepens my empathy and atonement to the unique ways neurodivergent people experience the world.
All of these personal and professional experiences inform the way I show up in the therapy space: with openness, flexibility, and respect for the complexity each person brings.
Holding an enhanced DBS certificate, I prioritise a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment where transformation is possible.
